How much prior notice do I need to schedule a pickup?

We prefer 48 hours of prior notice, but we can respond in as little as one hour. Often times flexible shipping dates can result in better pricing.

What are your hours of operation?

6:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday with emergency contact 24/7 by a live answering service; No voicemail!

What types of commodities can you haul?

We are a general commodities carrier emphasizing in oversize and overweight. Whitewood specializes in machinery of all types.

How do I pay for services?

Whitewood extends credit to companies that can prove credit worthiness. We offer options in prepayment, wire transfer, COD, and most credit cards.

What information do I need to provide in order to obtain a transport quote?

Origin, destination, dimensions, weight, shipment value, estimated date of shipment, commodity type, name and model if applicable.

Is my freight covered by insurance?

You bet. Whitewood maintains cargo coverage up to $1,000,000.00 per shipment. Additional coverage is available for a fee.

If I cancel my order, will I be charged?

It depends on whether or not a truck has been dispatched. Applicable charges will apply.

What are your payment terms?

Net 15 with a contract. Options are available and negotiable.

How do you calculate costs?

It all depends on time, distance, size, and weight.

What is the largest size you can haul?

Depending on origin and destination, up to 130,000 lbs. per single piece of freight.

What if there is a problem with my shipment?

Regardless of the problem, if there is a change in the condition of your shipment please contact your Whitewood account representative as soon as possible.

What if fuel or operational cost suddenly rise?

Whitewood charges a fuel surcharge on all shipments while fuel costs exceed $1.70 per gallon. FSC is predicted based on the Department of Energy’s published fuel prices by region. Whitewood typically adjusts FSC weekly, but reserves the right to adjust daily with sudden spikes in fuel cost.

What if escort drivers are required?

Typically we know in advance if escorts will be needed and charges are included in the rate quote. If there is a change of conditions (unknown conditions including weather and road contruction) you will be notified as soon as possible.

What about special state regulations for certain freight?

Whitewood is familiar with most state regulations and typically is able to adjust to state needs and requirements.

What does Satellite Verified Transport do for me?

We can locate your shipment on a Whitewood truck within 100 feet at any given time and communicate directly with the driver.

What is your primary mileage rate?

Rates are determined by equipment need, commodity type, origin, destination, weight, dimension, and special needs.

Do you have forced dispatch?

Absolutely not. Our Owner Operators can choose their loads as well as their availability to work without penalty.

What type of freight do you haul?

General commodities, oversize, and overweight, specializing in machinery of all types.

How many miles should I expect weekly?

Depending on the equipment you pull, our fleet averages approximately 2,500 miles per week. This includes multi-axle lowboys, flatbeds and stepdecks.

What if my truck is disabled?

Repairs and replacements are your responsability as an independent contractor.

Do you have a wheelbase restriction?

No, but we do approve all acts of consideration prior to leasing your equipment.

Do you have an age restriction?

Within State and Federal regulations.

How often can I get home?

Some operators work locally. Our long haul operators are typically out no more than three weeks at a time. This decision is left primarily up to you, though we typically wouldn’t want to see you out for three weeks.

How much tarping will there be?

Little to none. With an emphasis in machinery we do not move many commodities like building materials.

Do you have any local, dedicated, or regional work?

Not typically, however we have considerable local work associated with our lowboys.

What are your terms of payment?

All carriers must sign our contract. We pay 28 days from receipt of your required paperwork.

What is your required paperwork?

A signed Bill of Lading by consignee, a copy of our rate confirmation, and an invoice.

Do you offer quick pay?

Yes. We offer 7 and 15 day quick pay options for a nominal fee.

What else do I need to be able to haul for Whitewood?

A signed, unaltered Whitewood Contract Carrier Agreement, a copy of your operating authority, carrier profile, W-9, and an insurance certificate with minimum coverages of $1,000,000 general/auto liability and $100,000 cargo.

Are you a bonded operation?

Yes. Our bond is held at First Interstate Bank in Billings, Montana.

Can I fax over my invoices?

Yes, but we still need the original, signed Bill of Lading. Document imaged copies are acceptable if stamped as such by the document imaging company.

Can I obtain payment references?

Whitewood is listed with First Advantage (Compunet) and Dunn & Bradstreet.

When is your next check run?
